Mud Kitchens

Encourage independent, imaginative play with our range of mud kitchens. From one-man bands to a full kitchen set-up, children’s creativity – whether playing alone or in big groups – will be fired with the open-ended play a mud kitchen prompts. Encourage outdoor play and interest in nature, as well as using the opportunity to develop skills in numeracy and literacy too as they cook up recipes, pour potions, and mastermind meals.

Bring water play into the mix for children to begin explorations in action and consequence, and encourage them to collect found materials, from dropped leaves to stones to mud to feathers – to initiate the development of a respectful relationship with nature.

For EYFS children, mud kitchens offer the opportunity to work on key developmental milestones. They will prompt the practice of both fine and gross motor skills, balance and coordination, and sensory awareness. Older children have great fun with mud kitchens too. They can provide a great opportunity for developing social hierarchical relationships, teamwork, and imagination. They’ll plan menus and write them up, before working out who is the head chef and who is the waiter – and then serve up exciting creations to hungry guests!
